There is a different process for registering as a waste carrier in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales

Before you start

Please note a waste carrier licence will normally cost £49.99 (lower tier licence) if the waste you're transporting as a business is your own waste, however, if you're transporting building, construction, ordemolitionwaste you will require an upper-tier waste carrier licence for this.)

If you are transporting other people's waste you will require an upper-tier waste carrier licence. The cost of this licence is £274 for 3 years and you will be allowed to transport any type of waste. As long as the licence is then renewed before it expires you will be able to renew it for £174 for another 3 years.
